Chimay Ale: Grande Reserve

Chimay BlueStyle: Belgian Ale
Alc./Vol.: 9%
Rating: 4.0/5.0

Justin’s Review:
This dark, cloudy ale does not boast any overwhelming flavors. Instead, it provides a deep, smooth sensation that seemingly could even complement a meat dish (I am having fajitas and its tasting pretty good). Hints of chocolate are present along with alcohol. This is my first Chimay beer and so I had pretty high expectations. Ultimately, I’d say this is an excellent beer, but is a bit overpriced.

Rebecca’s Review:
The Chimay hits the nostrels with a typical dark ale chocolate aroma (after 2 beers, I’m now an expert). It doesn’t do the cartwheels with flavors that we saw in the in the Ommegang. Instead it is a solid, deep, smooth meld of flavor presenting one unified, distinctive taste. It sits well in the stomach and enhances the tastes of accompanying foods. I like it.
